Dr. Michael Hinojosa, Ed.D. was renamed the Superintendent at Dallas Independent School District on September 15, 2015,  after serving

as the interim superintendent since June 26, and was apparently the only applicant considered for the job following the rocky three-year

term of Mike Miles, who resigned in June.  Dr. Hinojosa was previously the Superintendent at Dallas Independent School District from 2005

to 2011 when he left Dallas County to serve as the superintendent in Cobb County, Georgia, a suburban Atlanta district.

Dr. Hinojosa's career in Texas public education spans more than 30 years, starting as a teacher and coach in Dallas ISD. Dr. Hinojosa has

served as a Superintendent/Chief Executive Officer in Texas since 1994. Dr. Hinojosa’s recognitions have included selection as

Superintendent of the Year by The University of Texas at Austin Department of Educational Administration and as Texas Superintendent

of the Year by the Texas Association of School Boards. He was named a Distinguished Alumnus by the College of Education at

Texas Tech University and is past president of the Texas Association of School Administrators.

Dr. Hinojosa received a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University. He earned his master’s degree at the University of North Texas

and received his doctorate from The University of Texas at Austin.
